Astoria Pool is one of the largest and most iconic pools in New York City. Nestled within Astoria Park, this pool offers stunning views of the Hell Gate Bridge and the East River. Entry is free, making it an unbeatable option for families or anyone on a budget. The pool is open from late June through Labor Day, typically from 11 AM to 7 PM daily. The quality here is top-notch with well-maintained facilities and lifeguards always on duty. However, it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and during peak afternoon hours. For a more relaxed experience, try visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the sun is starting to set and you can enjoy a quieter swim under the golden hues of dusk.

Another gem is Fisher Pool located in East Elmhurst. This pool has a nominal entry fee—usually around $1 for children and $2 for adults—which helps maintain its excellent facilities. Open during the summer season from late June to early September, Fisher Pool operates from 11 AM to 7 PM daily. The water quality here is consistently high, thanks to regular maintenance and attentive staff who ensure everything runs smoothly. It's less crowded than Astoria Pool, making it ideal for families with young children or anyone looking for a quieter swim session where you can hear your own thoughts above the gentle splashes of water.

Over in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park lies the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Pool & Rink complex. This facility offers both an indoor pool available year-round and an outdoor pool open during the summer months from late June to Labor Day weekend. The indoor pool requires membership or day passes which cost around $10-$15 per visit depending on age and residency status; meanwhile, access to the outdoor pool is free during its seasonal operation hours of 11 AM to 7 PM daily. Known for its cleanliness and modern amenities—including locker rooms and showers—this complex provides an exceptional swimming experience regardless of weather conditions.

For those who enjoy combining history with their swim time, there's Liberty Pool located at Roy Wilkins Recreation Center in St Albans. This historic site not only offers swimming but also serves as a community hub with various activities throughout the year that bring neighbors together like family reunions at grandma's house!
